Some of our new Primary 7 pupils worked with Mrs Wadley to pull together a news clip. There were a few technical problems and lots of laughs but they eventually managed to get a short film which can be viewed below: ENJOY!!

Bell's Brae's Got Talent - 19 March 2010
On Friday 19 March 2010 several pupils took to the stage in the first 'Bell's Brae's Got Talent Contest'. The audience of pupils and staff were extremely impressed with all of the acts, demonstrating the wealth of talent in Bell's Brae Primary School. A variety of acts took to the stage- singing, dancing, gymnastics and instrumental solos. Four advisors provided feedback to each act with all pupils contributing to the final vote. Everyone proved to be a WINNER but on the day Brandon received the most votes and walked away with the trophy.
Young Shetland Writer 2010 - Legends of the Deep
The Shetland Library have just launched their annual literacy competition which will run from February to July. As well as junior and senior prizes, there will be an additional prize for the best entry in dialect. The theme this year is Legends of the Deep, and pupils should be encouraged to write a short story about mermaids, sea monsters, ghost ships or any other legendary topic.Application forms are available in school and on request from Shetland library.

The Curriculum for Excellence Parent Toolkit - an online and print resource designed to help practitioners speak to parents with confidence - was launched on Wednesday 27 January 2010 by Michael Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.

The 26 January 2010 was Up Helly Aa day in Lerwick. Pupils and staff at Bell's Brae were fortunate enough to receive a visit from both the junior and senior Jarl Squads in the afternoon. Members of the Pupil Council received a shield from the Jarls to add to our extensive collection. Prior to their arrival the pupils in the school were busy finding out about viking life in Shetland as well as designing and making their own shield, helmets and axes. An impressive galley by pupils in P5s is now on show within the school.

The school held a very successful Family Fun Evening as part of National Family Week with over 200 people joining in to learn new skills
